Charlotte is primarily a self taught contemporary artist. She is from Charleston, South Carolina where she graduated from Ashley Hall School and then went on to The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she studied painting throughout her college career. Charlotte currently lives with her three children and husband in New Orleans, LA.
Charlotte’s paintings are abstract, mixed media works on deep-edged canvas. Her paintings are primarily composed of layers of soft, subtle colors embedded in lushly textured surfaces. Charlotte uses simple compositions with the intention of invoking a sense of calm. Her understated work blends easily with traditional interiors and also works well in modern spaces. Charlotte’s art is inspired by the images and colors associated with coastal marshes. She is drawn to everyday objects and landscapes that evoke a distinctly southern sense of place and home. Charlotte has participated in numerous exhibitions throughout the Southeast. She was a featured artist for the Southern Living Designer Showhouse in 2010.
