Jim Forner Although A.J. has had no formal training in art, he was exposed to painting early in life through an uncle and two brothers who sketched and painted. Born in rural Arizona, he spent a good amount of time around farms and ranches and later lived in Suffolk, England in the heart of farm and horse country. His varied career path has led him from aeronautical engineering to Construction Management. A life long woodworker, he now has a small wood shop in Stevenson, Maryland where he builds and restores furniture. He took up painting about a year ago and enjoys yet another area of creativity. “Even though I started painting relatively late in life, I somehow always knew I would be a painter. The desire to express myself artistically has never been far from my thoughts. My paintings are simple in their approach and technique. My desire is to evoke scenes of tranquility and peace. I try to represent a peaceful and respectful coexistence between man and nature mostly through the depiction of farm scenes. Rather than providing a great amount of detail and realism in my paintings, I prefer to leave it to the viewer to fill in the blanks with their own imagination and thoughts. To me, that is the essence of Art.” · Home |
