David Brewster is a contemporary New England landscape painter. Born in Baltimore, Brewster earned his MFA from the University of Pennsylvania and has since been invited to paint, lecture, and exhibit throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia. Brewster's work is in local permanent collections at Brown Advisory, The Maryland Club, The Elkridge Club, and John Hopkins Carey Business School to name a few.
Brewster's work was featured in the December 2015 Issue of Harper's magazine and The Boston Globe recently reviewed his work~
"we don't tend to think of landscape paintings as having velocity, but Brewster's muscular, glinting compositions open wide and tumble together with magnetic urgency."
In 2017 the Maryland Historical Society will present the work of Maryland artist David Brewster in a dynamic painting exhibit, featuring new works juxtaposed with the Society’s historical collections. Working with museum staff, Brewster is ‘mining’ the vast resources at MdHS as a source of inspiration for the contemporary topics his paintings will interpret.
